Downtown on a Sunday

We went to a great bookstore, went on a walk that started at an Indian temple, got some Legos, went to an art supply store, ate bao, and battled the F1 crowds! Charlie Brown shot is for my uncle. Had dinner last night with a couple who were in Phuket at the time of the tsunami-riveting.

Walkway at SAS

No students at SAS today-we had PLC training all day. At the end of the day, I took a picture looking towards the theaters. The school has all hallways open to the outside, and even though it rains a ton, there are plenty of overhangs to keep dry.

Laney's first soccer game

Laney scored the first goal of the season! I hope that didn't come off as a brag :)

Laney's fun art project

This picture is a picture of what I made while Ethan was doing his homework over the weekend. I made this because it looks pretty like a flower because it is a flower.

Friday night

Went to see diary of a wimpy kid last night and laughed. We were able to walk to the theater and grab dinner beforehand-made for fun Friday night. Seats are assigned at the movies and you can get sweet or salty popcorn-no refills and the box of popcorn is about the size of a kids popcorn-maybe a small. In fact, the idea of refills on sodas at restaurants isn't part of the eating out culture here.
Ethan and I tried to see expendables 2 here but he wasn't allowed in because it is nc16. It goes right along with the vibe here that citizens may choose inappropriately so gov't restrictions stop you. A bit of censorship here on tv-we were watching Bedtime stories on Disney and some of the women were wearing low cut blouses-the cleavage was blurred out. Phones for both kids now, but laney's is non-contract, prepaid -only in case we need to find her at an activity at SAS or Ethan needs to meet up with her. SAS is that big-security checks our taxi every morning beneath the car with mirrors and in the trunk . Lots of questions about how safe we feel, or rather unsafe, we feel living on the US with access to guns. Here, the public ad campaign is "low crime doesn't mean no crime". Boards by the mrt have records of the latest crime. I have my own saying: "low littering doesn't mean no littering"-for all the touts of Singapore being so clean, it's not without its fair share of grunge. All in all-we are really adjusting and thriving!
