Singapore Fire Truck

Josh and I think it looks like it is straight out of Fahrenheit 451. I told Josh and Laney that it was so much cooler than fire trucks in the U.S.-Laney said she thought Singapore firemen would say that U.S. fire trucks were cooler. All in the perspective, I suppose.

School and routines

Week one of school is done, and it was a fantastic start for every one if us!

Year 2 is so much more relaxed, as was promised. More cooking at home, figuring out laundry situation, and doing the dishes-all seem enjoyable instead of overwhelming. I figured out that hanging the laundry from the bamboo poles are much easier than hanging them from the back of the balcony!

Summer

Wonderful summer, but just not enough time to see everyone we wanted for as long as we wanted. Disappointing.

A few pictures are below of our time in Paris. I will post more once I figure out how to get them from Josh's phone-not a big deal, for most people, but there's just so much to do😍!

We are in Paris

Within 20 minutes of finding our paris apartment, we were having breakfast, looking at Notre Dame, when the police stopped traffic for the horses to pass-there were so many-not sure of the name of the "parade". First thought off the plane: there is a wonderful chill in the air! I was actually cold!

About to board

This is the first time I have ever been on a "double decker" plane. After entering the gate, we went up an escalator to the gate for the second story of the plane. Now, we are waiting to board!

Petronas Towers for lunch

Made it to KL last night and decided to try go to the Petronas Towers. No luck going up as all time slots were sold out, so we are having lunch at the adjacent mall (after we all bought gum!) the picture is of us on the train from the airport / hotel to KL. supposedly, the flight is on for tonight...hoping so!

Paris flight cancelled

Because of the air-traffic controller strike in France, our Paris flight was cancelled. So, we will stay in Kuala Lumpur for at least one night. While it is a bit disappointing, the adventurer in all of us is super excited about the unknown journey that awaits us!

Big Day

Today was a momentous day for two reasons: last day of school for students, and I wore jeans for the first time since July (could it be that I am actually getting used to the heat?!). Whoo-hoo! Ethan and Laney came home for a quiet afternoon, while Josh and I worked until the end of the day. Josh attended his first SAS graduation. We are off on our summer travel in one week! Here's some pictures from the weekend.

Early Birthday

Laney celebrated her 10th birthday a month early because we only have 2 and 1/2 weeks left of school. The agenda: a scavenger hunt, pool, and sleepover. Ethan spent the night at a friend's house, so we all spent Sunday relaxing.

Ethan's 12th Birthday

Ethan turned 12 on Tuesday!  He got lots of good wishes from family and friends, dinner at his favorite dumpling restaurant (Din Tai Fung), and a PS3.

Spring Break

Great time together this week in singapore. We went to Pulau Ubin to ride bikes and have a tasty lunch. We went to the oceanarium and watched a manta ray play in the bubbles of a scuba diver-flip after flip after flip. We went on a tree top walk and saw lots of monkeys. Back to school tomorrow - only 9 weeks until summer break!

Back to Work & Summer Plans

Josh returned to work last week and is doing wonderfully! His knee is still an issue, but it is getting better. The intensive PT has helped immensely along with all the stretching and swimming. It is SO great to all be exploring and active again.

Summer plans are in the works. Here is what we have so far:

Home to Denver on June 30th (via Paris, Berlin, Prague, & Helsinki)
Denver until July 16th-ish Wisconsin - family reunion-back to Denver on July 21st
July 22-24 Breckinridge
July 26 to San Francisco
July 28 back to Singapore

Please let us know if you are around so we can see you!!!!

Cast and braces

Ethan was rip sticking with a friend on Monday and fell on his wrist. The pain persisted, so we took him to the doctor, but the radiology department had already closed-off to the ER. Ethan got checked in, an x-ray, consultation, and a cast (even though the pain was attributed to a sprain), and medicine for S$98! Unbelievable! So affordable and fast! We we t to Chilis for dinner so Ethan could get a hamburger-because of the cast, no physical activity for a week. That meant no field day for Ethan! Instead, he got braces and treated to lunch at our favorite dumping restaurant - din tai Fung. Laney wants a cast and braces now so she can go out to Chili's and Din Tai Fung!
